- * Interleukin-10 signature *
- ****************************
-
- Interleukin-10 (IL-10) [1,2] is a protein that inhibits cytokine synthesis by
- activated T-cells. IL-10 is highly similar to the Epstein-Barr virus BCRF1
- protein which inhibits the synthesis of gamma-interferon.
-
- IL-10/BCRF1 are proteins of about 160 amino acids that contain one potential
- glycosylation site and four conserved cysteines. As a pattern, we selected a
- perfectly conserved decapeptide that includes two of the cysteines.
-
- -Consensus pattern: R-R-C-H-R-F-L-x-C-E
- -Sequences known to belong to this class detected by the pattern: ALL.
- -Other sequence(s) detected in SWISS-PROT: NONE.
- -Last update: December 1991 / First entry.
